Drug Free High

Drug & Alcohol Education and Prevention

Drug-Free High is an innovative drug and alcohol prevention program combining popular culture and current neuroscience. This school-based program is designed to promote safe and healthy experiences of accomplishment, self-worth, enjoyment, and coping; without the need for drug and alcohol use/abuse. Most teens report that they engage in drugs & alcohol behaviors for the effect of the high, to have fun, reduce stress, and to socialize. This program is designed to assist teens in understanding that they are capable of getting “high” without drugs & alcohol, and to strengthen their perspective and confidence in developing new ways to obtain similar effects without the dangers of substance use.

It is a tough time to grow up, and the pressures that teens feel often overwhelm their coping strategies. Yet despite the challenges of their world, the teenager’s brain has not changed, and remains the same powerful system designed to enhance confidence, enjoyment, fulfillment, and reward. The problem is that most teens haven’t learned how to fully optimize the power within, and instead, seek the soothing and gratifying effects of drugs and alcohol. The Drug Free High program informs teens of the neurological features and capabilities of their brains and bodies, and assists in the exploration of ways to develop healthy “highs” including:

              - Enhanced motivation

              - Risk/Reward hobbies

              - Goal setting & attainment

              - Self Esteem

              - Physical exercise

              - Mental Toughness

              - Competition

              - Social strength

The program begins with an on-site student body presentation, and is reinforced through a monthly curriculum to be integrated into health/wellness classes, or student clubs and organizations.
